I'm sorry if all these rules seem to be very strict. They are, perhaps. But lately I've been finding that I'm too disheartened by all the badly written fanfiction out there to go searching for some good writing. I do not mean in any way to discriminate against writers who don't find it easy - writing is a talent and I would never discourage it. Nor do I mean to dishearten writers who find spelling, punctuation or grammar difficult. If you find that difficult, there are hundreds of excellent betas out there (people who read other people's writing and tell them how to improve it, as well as editing incorrect spelling or grammar). I will NEVER turn down a story that someone has sent me for beta-ing. My email address is: thats_life_666@hotmail.com

Okay, rules!

1. Grammar and punctuation must be correct.

2. Spelling must conform to correct English or American writing - of course, that depends on the writer.

3. No swearing - or very little please. It's perfectly possible to write a good story without swearing. It's rarely used on these tv shows, and that should continue into these fanfictions.

4. All fanfictions should include a disclaimer.

5. All characters should be written as true to life as possible. If you really hate a character, just don't include them.

6. Each disclaimer must also say which season the fanfiction is set in. If it's Alternate Universe or spans over several seasons, say so, but also say which main characters are included.

7. Please, please, please reply to other people's fanfictions. You like replies as much as the next person - treat them with the same respect.

8. Constructive criticism is one thing - disheartening another writer and complaining about their work is another. If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. :-X

Okay, I think that's it, folks! Let's get on with the writing! :)
